Spectators and masqueraders dance to the sounds of steel bands and DJ痴 playing the latest carnival melodies.

世俗的な休日 : Relations with the United States were strained when Maurice Bishop took power in a bloodless coup and suspended the 1974 Constitution. Following another coup in which Bishop among others were executed, the United States invaded Grenada on October 25, 1983. They were accompanied by troups from Jamaica, Barbados, and other countries. The Constitution was reinstated, and elections were held the following year.
